One Piece review
Usually, I don’t review anything that is still ongoing and that I haven’t dropped after a considerable number of episodes/chapters. After 857 chapters of One Piece however, I feel like I have formed a viable opinion. Also, I don’t know if I’m gonna live long enough to see the end.

Story:
One Piece follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy on his way to become the pirate king (whatever that title implies), making friends and foes along the way as his crew grows in numbers, strength and notoriety. There is one thing that sets this manga apart from most other shounen titles however, and that’s the creativity of Eiichiro Oda. He knows exactly whether the story needs more drama right now or more comedy and the plot unfolds bit by bit, but only as much as necessary to keep interest. I mean, after 20 years we still have no idea what One Piece, the will of D or the lost history are, but we learned about other things along the way. But still, that would not be enough for most people, so why does One Piece not get boring? Well, one major factor is that “Oda never forgets”. Remember that little comment from a character 12 years ago? That’s an important plot point now. That new character? First mentioned in 2000. Hey, isn’t that the one guy they beat up in chapter 319? He happens to be an important person on the island they just arrived on. A heavy continuity in a long running series usually alienates potential new readers, but here the lore is never too deep for newcomers so that they would feel left out. Another big plus is the setting. The crew travels from one island to the next, not knowing a thing about the different locations of the world (except maybe for Robin). Therefore, we get to see all kinds of different themes on the visited islands. From prehistoric settings to Egyptian deserts to islands in the sky or underwater, there is always something fresh, a new climate and a new culture, a friendly or hostile environment, you never know. Sure, you will hear people say “One Piece jumped the shark with the XYZ arc”, but that’s normal for a manga this long. People either complain about how it changed or that it’s repetitive, you’ll never make everybody happy.
Except for the Simpsons, I think we can all agree that they have sucked for at least 10 years now.
10/10

Art:
Back in 1997, One Piece looked unique. To some, it looked ugly, so it had a bit of trouble picking up readers. But all it took was a little time to get used to it. Still, Oda’s artstyle isn’t the best around, neither 20 years ago nor today. That’s not saying it looks like shit, not at all, but it seems as if he has trouble drawing a normal human being. He makes up for that with crazy character designs that only got more crazy as time went on. A big point of criticism in recent years have been the female bodies. Realistic females have never been a staple of anime or manga, but in One Piece they not only look unhealthy, but rather impossible. Their breasts are twice the size of their heads while their waists are merely as wide as a thumb. That goes beyond sexy and into uncanny valley territory. In total, Oda has good ideas but occasionally trouble to put it on paper.
6/10

Characters:
At this point I would take a look at all characters that are somewhat important or worth mentioning individually, but if I did that for One Piece, I would need to write a goddamn book. With a series this long that tells a tale of traveling, naturally the character count will be in the multiple hundreds. And here’s the thing: Almost all of them are memorable and unique. While the story in itself may not be all that special for many, you will have a hard time arguing against the fact that the cast of One Piece is simply amazing. Not only do they all have their own distinct design (though females are starting to look more and more the same, sadly) but they also all get a different personality. After all, the fun thing about travelling is meeting many interesting people and that is what the Straw Hats are doing. Characters that are a bit more important to the story usually get plausible motivations, and even though their backstories aren’t all deep stuff, it’s more than enough for a story of this kind. Also, as I mentioned earlier, Oda never forgets. Sometimes, you meet people more than once and the same happens in One Piece. Sometimes they used to be important but aren’t anymore, at times unimportant side characters get a major role, other times they are just as dangerous or useless as they’ve been the last time. In total, the characters embody the fun the story wants to spread among its readers and they stand as one of the best casts of a shounen manga that ever existed.
10/10

Enjoyment:
What can I say that I haven’t already? One Piece is fun. It’s exciting at times, but always hilarious and it owns the shounen genre like no other work managed to do since. In terms of quality (and length) it has surpassed its spiritual predecessor Dragonball, so if you are a fan of that and somehow haven’t checked out One Piece yet, you totally should. While some weaker phases are inevitable, the weak parts of it are still far superior to those of works like Naruto or Bleach. Long story short, One Piece is a MUST for shounen lovers, but also worth at least checking out for anybody else.

Koe no Katachi review
This review is based on me watching the movie first and reading the manga second within a few hours apart from each other. Pardon the comparison.

To start off, and it may even be a contradiction to my prior statement, the movie and the manga feel like two different stories. The movie leaves out details that have bothered viewers that were faithful to the source material. However, the movie works around these changes and in turn change scenes accordingly, and it feels justified.

My point being. the movie is better in a sense of value, the amount of time spent vs the enjoyment received from it.

Spoilers ahead.

One of the main problems that I have with the manga is the fact that some of the supporting characters are not fleshed out and fail to redeem themselves.

Take Miki Kawai, the narcissist of the supporting characters, we discover that she is one of the people watching and laughing along with shouko's bullying. When she mentions to stop the bullying they are halfhearted and are said just for the sake of saying it. Which is fine and in fact makes sense for a child to do so. However, when the scope of the film is for not only Ishida's redemption but the reflection of the other characters wrongdoings, I find an issue where this character finds nothing wrong about herself throughout all this time. This character is not only a blight on the movie but even in the source material itself which is unforgivable. There are moments where its clear that she cares for the misfortune that befalls the main characters Ishida and Shouko but its not justified. There are at least 4 other supporting/minor characters that fall victim to this. I'd rather they just be cut from the plot in general....

There are details within the manga that I desperately wanted in the movie, they give context to the actions the characters take, but I think in general the movie took a better approach than the manga. .

The ending, the manga is a failure for closure, not in the sense that leaves me wanting more but rather I felt neutral about how it ended.

Why is the movie satisfying?
The movie uses its time well, cutting even some crucial moments out of the manga to make a believable and coherent story. Although there are still faults that are shared between both mediums, the movie is a superior experience.

Sooner or later, I will make a more fleshed out review of both the Manga and the Movie, but for now these are whats on my mind. Thank you.
Shingeki no Kyojin review
All complaints aside, I don't think many mangas can match Shingeki no Kyojin's titanic entertainment value :D

Initially, I thought some of the major plot twists were downright silly. I'm trying not to spoil, so I'll just say that I remember thinking stuff like 'Wut? No one bothered to check what the wall was made of? For a 100 years?' or counting on my fingertips thinking 'Ok, so thats nearly half of his friends who're...wow'. I thought about it however, and now I think that without those twists, the story would have been pretty boring and linear. I really love how everything is linked in this manga; nothing is without purpose. I suppose some would say it narrows the world down (as thats what I used to think), but I think it works great for manga.

The artwork really sells this manga in my opinion. The heavy emphasis of the blacks and shadows really suits the survival theme, and the titans are truly the scariest manga antagonists ever! What's really terrifying about the way the titans are drawn is that, their faces are so realistic, I can actually say I've seen people that look like them!

The characters are a bit mediocre, and there are so many characters without any unique qualities that are overshadowed by the main character's outstanding abilities. However, the manga isn't devoid of character development, and when it happens, it's in relevance to the story (linking to what I've said above) so there's the pro of not having to read unnecessary backstory.

It ain't perfect, but I think this manga trades the mere possibility of becoming a masterpiece in exchange for pure enjoyment. I think that's great :D
Monster review
The best thriller I've ever seen out of ALL form of media.

This is one of the few series I would rate a masterpiece.

Before you continue you reading, if you go into this expecting too much, you'll be disappointed. You need to see it as it is, and find somewhere in the middle of expectations. I feel as if my enjoyment level was effected a little bit, due to being so highly praised, but once I gave it some thought, it still is a brilliant and masterful piece.

It's not you're typical manga, there's no superpower, supernatural, or overly depressing life stories with this one. This honestly feels like an American made TV show. It's very eerie, and very suspenseful. It is definitely worth your every penny. (Please, purchase if you are going to read it. Support this brilliant Author/Mangaka "Naoki Urasawa".)

It's also worth your full attention; as there is so many characters introduced, with meaning. Even the smallest character you meet, effects the story and might even show up 10+ volumes in after only seeing him in the first couple.

It's a story about this neurosurgeon "Dr. Tenma" whose faced with the choice to save the mayor, and get a promotion, or choose a young boy, who came in before the mayor, and get a demotion/never be promoted again. Either way, one of them dies.

Well, he chooses the boy feeling emotional, and saves his life. Thus getting demoted of Lead Neurosurgeon, and never going anywhere with his career again. But, a couple days later, everyone in power of keeping Dr. Tenma from his rightfully deserved position, dies. and Tenma is then promoted. Naturally, the investigators suspect Tenma.

Now, if you don't want spoilers to who the killer is, don't read any further. Personally, I would recommend stopping here, and reading it yourself. (Even though they tell you who the killer is in the first volume)

The killer... is the boy Tenma saved. He finds out 10 years later, after all these strange murders are taken place, the killer then tries to kill one of Tenma's patients, to which the killer revealed himself to Tenma. So, Tenma sets out on a journey to kill this MONSTER, this Devil... and it's just... An amazing story.

Overall I give it a 10/10, perfectly done. The ending was a little anti-climactic for most, but personally I think it was very well done. The story was never meant to end is a super, climactic battle between the two. But that last page... Ughhghh it gave me shivers. 10/10, can't say it enough.

Please, read this masterpiece. Purchase this masterpiece and support the series. But, like I said, don't go into it expecting TOO much. Just, read it. Stop reading reviews, stop watching videos. Just READ it.
Fullmetal Alchemist review
My review is about Fullmetal Alchemist. Personally, I think it is one of the best mangas with its well developed plot, beautiful art, and unique characters.

Story (10): I think that Fullmetal Alchemist has one of the best plot lines out of all the mangas I have read. The author thought out the story really carefully and developed it very well. It may seem like there are a lot of irrelevant parts in the story but they all connect together to form the bigger picture. Some of the smaller points even become a substantial role in the story.

Art (8): Hiromu Arakawa put just enough detail into her drawings so that you are not overwhelmed by the complicity but also it gives enough details to understand what the image is portraying. The expressions on the characters are well expressed and easily visible. I think she did a nice job creating the characters appearance when you think about how many different characters there are in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Character (10): Even though there are quite a lot of characters in the story, each character has a unique personality. Also the character's development is well expressed into the story by telling the readers about their past and experiences. It gives a realistic feeling to the readers because you can understand what the characters are going through.

Enjoyment (9): I really enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist and I hope that it will just keep getting better and better. I would recommend it to people who like fantasy mangas but even if you don't I think everyone will enjoy it.

Akatsuki no Yona review
I may stand as biased in my review, but I honestly love Akatsuki no Yona. I've re-read the entire manga three times. I especially recommend it if you enjoy shoujo manga.

-Story: (10) The story starts on quick and hooks you in. When I first read Akatsuki no Yona for the first time, I had originally planned to only read a few chapters then go to sleep. However, I was so intrigued I stayed up until 4 a.m. to read all the updated chapters. The story itself takes you on Hak and Yona's journey after Soo-won murders Yona's father. Together they eventually go out to seek new companions, each of whom get their own backstories. I won't say anymore in fear of spoiling the story, but to say the least, I laughed and cried while reading Akatsuki no Yona. Truly, a spectacular storyline.

-Art: (10) Oh man, the art is so beautiful. It's not super unique, but I personally love the look of the characters and the scenery.

-Character: (10) If any of you have seen Akatsuki no Yona's anime adaptation, you would understand how annoying pampered Yona is at the palace. However, during the beginning chapters of the manga, she is less annoying and stuck-up, which is a relief. Overall, Yona's character development is truly amazing. This is one of the reasons Yona is beloved by everyone she meets later into the manga (She's also one of my favorite characters of all time!). The author also creates the other main/side characters to melt your heart. I can truthfully say I have a crush on almost everyone of the characters.

-Enjoyment: (10) I LOVED this manga, and still am continuing to re-read it over and over again. I recommend putting on some good music while you're reading.

-Overall: (10) I have not read a better manga yet.
Made in Abyss review
I write this with the biased perspective of a Christian.

Though, as is obvious to note, all perspectives are biased due to our individuality and experiences in life. That being said, if anyone has similar biases as me, then this review is for you.

Others have written about this in other reviews, but I feel it important to add my voice to theirs because what this manga portrays is absolutely appalling and horrific to anyone who values the lives of not just children, but human beings. Like a frog put in warm water only to be boiled, there isn't as much child pornography (yes, child pornography) in the beginning of the story. If you're like me and saw the anime first, then you also may think it won't be so bad because the anime is so beautiful and breathtaking that you hardly think about its depictions of these children which are utterly abused in the manga.

I don't want to go into detail because I don't feel I need to--others have done that I believe for the most part. Honestly, all you need to know about this story is that the writer is very disrespectful and perverted to be drawing and writing these things. To bask in the suffering of children in the ways as depicted in this story is nothing short of a disgrace. It pretends to be something it is not--literally a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Basically, to sum up my harsh and dramatic review, the anime was so interesting that we forgot about the somewhat awkward things that disturbed us, but the manga shows that it truly is an absolute garbage story in my utterly biased and proud of it perspective.
One Punch-Man review
Rather than Action, *ACTION* fits this manga better.

Story-8
The story are quite generic. Simply put, it's a story about heroes battling against villains. Onepunchman add gimmick such as hero rank system, which shows how the heroes regulated by government. Nothing mindblowing but for an omnipotent hero like Saitama, this actually could build a sense of growth which I don't expect from one-hit-kill main char.

Art-10
Yuusuke Murata providing a generous amount of action scene for this series. No really, when you see action it means real ACTION. 18-20 page for weekly release are just not enough to capturing the awesomeness that put other battle mangas to shame. Arts, details, drawing techniques; IMO it's handsdown the best among manga, or (on some chapters) even comparable to high-end OVA.

Character-9
The diversity of character in OPM is enormous. Major character are consist of heroes though since most monsters/villains are gonna be one-hit-Ko'ed anyway. The main char Saitama portrayed as somehow indifferent hero, neither openly shows hot-blooded sense of justice nor having no justice at all. This generates a pivot point for diverse kind of heroes that appears in the story.

Enjoyment-10
I highly enjoy this series. Rather than push pull battle scene which showing U-turn win-lose-win pattern, it just show how the protagonists win the battle. If 1 hit is all we need to beat the opponent, why do we need to throw new fancy techniques each chapter just to be countered by the opponent on the next chapter? Even 1 hit kill could be interesting if it compensated in another department, on this case OPM leads huge margin by the detailed drawing of battle scenes.

Overall-9
An exemplary of what a battle manga could achieve. So smooth that you could breeze over the chapter in just a few seconds, but without reducing reader's interest to re-read again.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou review
This review only applies for the first 14 chapters of the series and it does not constitute for the overall experience of the manga itself and it will be comprised of what I liked and disliked about the manga and the reason I have had dropped it for.

But really the only thing I actually liked about this manga is the art. It's simplistic and it does look really good but other than that, it has nothing going for it. Like, it's not there's anything bad or anything good in it, there is just nothing happening. The chapters don't draw to any conclusion, there isn't any conflict, nothing to leave you thinking about, just some simple events happening. Honestly, if your favorite activity is staring at a wall, this is the perfect choice for you, because the manga is that monotone. I don't really want to be rough on it because it has nothing actually bad by any means in it, but the reason is because it has nothing actually happening. The chapters I've read are the main character drinking coffee and talking to other villagers. I suppose you could try the manga if you would like to read about how the characters in a world where most people are gone and most end up living frugally, with some robots to boot around to see how is that imagined. But other than that, this manga is as eventful as looking at a rock. Now if you look at a rock, do you expect it to move? Yeah, me either, so this is why I dropped the manga. I don't think I could recommend this manga to anyone but if a really uneventful setup interests you, with nothing to take from the entire thing, this is perfect for you.

9/10

Overall:
8.75/10
